Client Update

This summer, we’ve been working with a wonderful family in Evanston on a full-home renovation. They want their home to be transitional with some fun details, but timeless.  Nothing is complete (and you know we’ve been terrible at shooting our final projects anyway so don’t keep your hopes up!) but here are some less-than-stellar iPhone progress pics.

Kitchen lights are in and amazing. David Hicks pendants you never disappoint!

Two of their three girls are sharing this bathroom. Because it’s a bathroom for young kids, we didn’t want the choices to be too expensive so we used affordable materials in a fun way. A great porcelain tile was laid herringbone style, simple subway tile got a dark gray grout and for a little fun we did marble bubble tile on the shower nooks.

In the master bathroom, they really wanted their shower to be a statement so we did a gorgeous accent wall with a marble mosaic tile.  SO pretty!  The floor is a large hex which contrasts nicely with the tighter swirl on the accent wall. And who doesn’t love a statement light in their bathroom?

Ikea Ritva Curtains

I’m always looking for cheap ways to add drapery to a room.  Drapery can be an expensive purchase and even more expensive when you add curtain rods.  I was perusing the internet looking for cheap but nice looking drapes.  Here are a few photos that caught my eye and would you believe these drapes are from Ikea (DIY in different ways of course!):

Last week, I made the long jaunt to Ikea.  This time it was a different experience because my husband and three kids came.  Let’s just say it wasn’t quite the same and I don’t think I will ever do that again.  The kid’s club was closed so we were stuck walking the aisles with three whiny kids.  I was there solely to hunt down  the Ritva Curtains and see if they really did have the look that good in person.  Oh, and grab a cinnamon roll!

Let’s just say they didn’t disappoint.  Even though they are 100% cotton, they have the look and feel of a linen texture.  They come in white, black, gray, medium brown and red.  And as you can see from the examples above, so many ways to personalize.  If you’re looking for drapes for your living room, bedroom or a kid’s room it’s worth the trek out to Ikea.  Check back on Friday and I will show you a DIY project I’m going to attempt with these drapes (maybe I should say, my mom is going to attempt).

Client Project Update

For the past few months, we’ve been working with a great couple helping them update their master bathroom. This is the design we landed on with them.

We had a chance to go and check on progress yesterday and thought we’d share a few progress shots…

Client Master Bathroom

The porcelain floor is just gorgeous. It’s the perfect balance of gray and taupe so it’s not too cold.

And here you can see a peek of the shower floor which is a hexagon marble with inlay. The shower walls are a simple white subway tile with dark gray grout. There will be a bench in the glass-doored shower that is just a marble slab.

Mirrors and sconces will go in next week along with paint. We’re planning on doing a very light greige on the walls, then doing a patterned roman shade on the window. Will keep you updated!
