We love it when our readers let us know about changes they make it their houses. One of our readers in Arizona sent us some pictures of her laundry room makeover so we thought this was the perfect week to share her results.
When Stephanie moved into her house, there was a great laundry room already there–nice wood cabinetry, a sink and plenty of countertop space–great bones.
But, because it’s located right off a main entry hall of their house and very visible to anyone who comes over, Stephanie felt it needed some updating. Here’s the same view of her laundry room now:
The cabinets were painted a dark brown, almost black, that matches the cabinetry in the nearby kitchen, along with new hardware from Restoration Hardware. Stainless steel countertops with an integrated sink modernized the space. An easy update was the removal of the top part of the shutters–a much simpler look. You’ll also noticed the floors are now wood–this was part of a whole house change from tile to wood.
Ā As we mentioned yesterday, a gooseneck faucet is the perfect choice for a laundry room. I love how Stephanie chose a more traditional looking faucet which softens the hard edges of the integrated sink.
To add some color, Stephanie found glass containers with stainless steel lids at Container Store, then filled them with laundry-related items (detergent, clothes pins, dryer sheets). Spray bottles with black tops (she didn’t miss an opportunity to coordinate!) are used for spray starch and stain remover.
Love the customized labels? They’re vinyl and available here in different colors, sizes and fonts. One of my favorite things in the room isĀ the red clothes pins which Stephanie found at Ikea and are the perfect pop of color! Ā Bringing a little of the Arizona outdoors in, succulents add an organic element.
Another fave in the room is the concealed ironing board–definitely a nice addition to the room! Best part is that the electrical is all inside the cupboard.
So, don’t feel badly for Stephanie when she’s doing laundry. Not only does she get to enjoy this new, beautiful room, but she also gets to enjoy this view out of the window while she’s folding!
Have a space that you’ve redone that you’d love to share? Let us know! And thanks again to Stephanie for sharing her laundry room.
I’m in love with this remodel. Looks clean and modern plus highly functional. Jealous!
What a beautiful and functional space! I love the labels (and the font) on the clear containers and spray bottles. It makes me want to do that in my laundry room!
That’s what we love to hear Suzanne!
This is truly an inspired renovation. I think in my house we’d fight over who got to do laundry if we had such a lovely space to do it in! I will keep these elements in mind if I ever take on the project of redoing mine!
I LOVE this laundry room makeover! It has inspired me to try to make my laundry room both stylish and functional. Maybe I will even start to enjoy doing laundry!
It is hard to get inspired about laundry rooms, but you are getting me there! Why have it as dungeon!
