I was walking the dog last night and walked past a new house in my neighborhood–beautiful place that has just the right mix of traditional appropriate for the street it’s on and contemporary for a unique, updated look. The sign on the lawn read Morgante Wilson so I looked them up and realized it was an architecture firm a few blocks away, housed in this unassuming building–this actually made me like them even more for some reason…like they’re nice, humble people who do amazing work. (Ok, total speculation on my part based solely on what their office looks like and where it is!) Went to their site and talk about amazing projects–no doubt I’ll be chatting with these guys if I ever get to build that dream house! Check out some of their work…
With this view I’d be happy living in a shack–ridiculously beautiful (and to you left and right coasters…this is a LAKE and yes, it’s big. 🙂
Maybe mountains are your thing…note the solar panels on the roof.
Love how they did floor-to-ceiling windows and kept all the furniture neutral (in fact, in the same palette as the surroundings) so everything is focused on the view. Even the table lamp was well thought out! The clear glass base allows your eye to go straight through and get more of that view!
Here’s another example of the same approach–beautiful furnishings, but kept in a monochromatic palette that allows you to also appreciate the gorgeous view. The art they used in the room reflects the lake outside.
Think I might have had dreams about this hallway–this one is particularly beautiful, but seriously, why don’t we use hallways more often like this??
They use space in really interesting ways–great attention to detail
Interesting staircases appear to be a staple of their work
Look at the detail here
And that last staircase and landing are part of this beautiful home…
Love finding local resources like this! You can see these pics and more of their work on their site.
