Looking for something to do this weekend? What about a quick jaunt east to the Hamptons? Ok, for us Chicagoans with a couple of kids to wrangle, not so realistic, but you NYC friends–you have to check out this new hotel that just opened in Montauk: The Montauk Beach House. Downtown Montauk, 33 guest rooms, a little cafe and a beach club, this place is the perfect getaway from the city. And the best part…no Hampton Inn decor here–love it!
By the way, that shot has inspired me to look at headboards in a whole new way. Love the idea of using an unexpected fabric to give a completely different look like this driftwood patterned fabric. Check out spoonflower.com for unusual fabrics that will do the job.
I filed this photo into my “boys rooms” inspiration folder. The dark blue paint, iron beds and white/gray bedding would be perfect in a teenage boy’s room. The caramel chair breaks up the color palette and the furry bean bag adds texture.
This is a great idea for anyone’s bathroom. Since I’m not a huge fan of art in the bathroom (we’ll save that for another post!) vintage frames found at garage sales, flea markets, etc. look great sprayed all the same color and mounted on a bold wall color.
And of course a staple of any great guest house…a beautiful pool…
And what a nice place to curl up and read a book
