When a Tree Falls in the Forest

I’m at my parents’ summer house in Nova Scotia and they have this great tree slab or “live edge” table. I’ve started seeing these tables pop up everywhere–not only do they add a beautiful organic element to any room, but each one is unique–no one else will have your table.

Room & Board recently launched the Chilton line of tables and benches. The steel base balances out the wood and keeps it feeling light.

Love how they’ve used ghost chairs to lighten the feeling in the room given the base of this table is also wood

This can also be a great DIY project.  A friend ordered the wood slab and then installed her own metal legs–it can take a lot of time to sand it down, stain, etc. but the results are beautiful.
The key to keeping these tables feeling contemporary is mixing up the chairs–love the steel chairs my friend chose with her dark stain

I’ll put it on my list for another post to walk through how to do this project–not only are they really beautiful, but they’re also very practical.
