Wasn’t yesterday’s beach”cottage” gorgeous? When I was there last week, I honestly wanted to come right home and completely redecorate my house–make it brighter and simpler! Laura Fisher the homeowner and interior designer custom ordered most of the items in her home. So, Amy challenged me to create a similar look with readily-available, affordable items.
Here’s the inspiration shot:
And, here are the items I picked to recreate the look–all pieces for around $3500–not totally budget, but you’ll see the couch and chandelier are more investment pieces so you could always save a thousand dollars or so by picking more affordable options. I’d start with a clean-lined sofa (1) and pair it with two tufted club chairs (3) with nailhead like the inspiration shot. At under $300 each these club chairs are an amazing deal. I found this ceramic white garden stool (4) for $100 on Overstock.com and it’s the perfect accent piece. As a side note, these stools are great for all types of rooms–consider them next to a bath tub to hold a towel (or a glass of wine!) Anchoring the base of the room would be two tufted ottomans (5)–under $500 for the pair. For a coffee table, I went to trusty ol’ IKEA (6)–while certainly not of the quality or exact shape of the inspiration coffee table, I liked its simplicity, the two levels and the grey/brown wood tones. And for around $200, I wouldn’t worry about a water stain from my darling 4 year old. Literally topping off the room, I’d splurge a little on this rustic, hand-painted chandelier from Layla Grace (2) which would add just enough interest to the room. Like I said though, you could save some cash here by picking something simpler from a chain store like Pottery Barn or Ballard Designs.
