Wallpaper is all the rage right now. It’s such a high level of commitment which makes it hard to decide which room to wallpaper and what pattern to go with. I was originally leaning towards painting my dining room a shade of gray but after a little extra nudge from my sister-in-law, I decided to explore my wallpaper options.
Here’s a photo of my dining room before:

Of course like any other project, it’s always a good idea to find some inspirational photos.
I love the design pattern on this wallpaper and the soft color it brings to the room. While large patterns add the most visual interest to a room, they can also make a room seem smaller and more intimate.

Everything about this room makes me happy, the floral wallpaper, rustic table, modern chairs and that gorgeous chandelier. Pairing modern furniture with traditional patterns is a beautiful mix. Although, choosing a bold pattern such as this one can be a little much for some rooms–especially a smaller room. If you really love the pattern but not sure the room can handle it, adding a chair rail or wainscoting panels will help to not overwhelm the room.

Wallpapering one wall is a nice solution to add a ‘pop’ but doesn’t become a huge investment in design or money for that matter.

Who doesn’t love grasscloth these days! Love the warmth it brings to a room. This is also a great solution for those walls that seem to be a little rough. The thick texture of grasscloth hides some of those imperfections that come with the territory of owning an older home.

And remember, it’s always best to ask for a large sample of wallpaper to hang on your wall. Seeing a large sample versus a small page from a book always looks different. Leave the sample hanging on your wall for a few weeks and walk by it everyday to make sure you really like the design.
Check back tomorrow for my dining room reveal!
