For some reason, I love coffee tables. Even though I have absolutely no need for one right now, I can’t help but look at them. I always struggle between beauty and function. For my living room, I bought this round wood table that is beautiful, but it’s totally impractical for a house with kids–one hot wheel along the top and there’s a permanent scratch…super annoying. So, piece of advice when you’re looking for a coffee table, do the hot wheel test in the store (well, ask them about it, don’t actually do it or it may fall into the “break it, buy it” policy!)
After Amy posted about West Elm the other day, I was looking around on their site and came across this Rustic Storage Coffee Table.
Check this out–perfect for storage of magazines, toys, remotes, etc. Or, would be great to pull up for a work surface.
My only concern would be with small kids–the corners are pretty sharp and you wouldn’t want little fingers being caught in the up/down of the panels. Just something to consider. Otherwise, someone has to buy this for their family/living room!
I LOVE this too. I think I’m leaning towards a storage ottoman from Ballard. I love the Haviland fabric. I’m sure there will be spills on the fabric…sigh.
I would recommend looking at outdoor fabrics like sunbrella–way easier to maintain and just as good looking these days!
oooh! we need a new coffee table for our back room…
