This summer, Amy and I have had a lot of people contact us about freshening up their homes. They’re looking to switch up their decor; finding it all a little tired and just want a change. We’re big believers in shopping your own house before you shop a store. I often move items from one room to another to mix up a look or if I get tired of something, it sometimes takes on new life in a different room and I can avoid getting rid of it at my next garage sale.
So, thought it would be fun to show you two rooms done with a few basic favorites from West Elm (affordable and accessible which you know we love!) but styled into two rooms serving very different purposes. I picked the Souk wool rug (a take on my favorite Moroccan rugs you can read about here!), the Kew dhurrie pouf, the Parsons bookcase and the Mia lamp, the bone side table and a red chevron pillow–and showed how they can fit in a room for big people and a room for little people!
As you can see, the same pieces work well in both rooms! I’m a big fan of buying furniture and accessories that you love and also believe that things don’t have to be bought for just one room. So, there’s not always a need to buy new things–start by looking around your own house to see how you might create a new look with existing items.
