Yesterday was one of those days that was perfect by my definition. Kids were at preschool/school and a client job was rescheduled at the last minute but instead of canceling my babysitter for William, I decided to give myself a vacation day. So what does a perfect day involve when you’re Amy? It starts out with a coffee at Starbucks (sorry Peets, your rival was on my way) in a cup, (not a paper cup!) followed by a trip to Ikea, Nordstrom Rack and finally topping off the day at TJ Maxx.
Thought I would share a few of my favorite finds:
I thought this yellow cabinet with the walnut base was such a fun little piece. It would be great in a kitchen!
If you haven’t guessed by now, walnut is becoming more and more popular in home design…you see it everywhere these days. And this sideboard is no exception, although, it’s walnut veneer which helps keep the price low.
I thought these leaf shaped side tables were adorable. Once again, walnut veneer.
Oh, where is a mudroom when I need one? Or, my daughter would probably love to use these in her room to store all of her “crap”.
Still love these simple white barstools…..little people in my home wouldn’t be able to destroy these.
These were such a pretty floral pattern with shades of blue and gray.
At only 39.99, this reading lamp is a steal! Take a look around your living room, if you don’t have a task/reading lamp, go to Ikea and buy this one. This is a piece that every living room should have.
My heart skipped a beat, okay maybe a few beats when I saw this stunner at my local TJ Maxx.
This floor lamp is gorgeous and would give any room a “pop”. I actually took it to the counter to check out and had convinced myself I was going to buy it even though there was no tag to tell me the price. I thought to myself, how much could it possibly be? I was expecting around $100.00. As she was ringing it up, $499.99 flashed across the screen. I thought she had made a mistake, no friends, she had not. WTH? When did TJ Maxx start carrying such expensive pieces? I sadly put the lamp back but as soon as my husband got home from work last night, I went BACK to TJ Maxx to have another look. I.couldn’t.pull.the.trigger…I’m heartbroken. PLEASE someone buy this and send me photos so I can share in your happiness.
And, yes there were a few other items that I found at TJ Maxx but I was too heartbroken over the darn price tag of the floor lamp to snap away.
Oh, and then to top my day off, my husband lifted my daughter up and didn’t realize he was standing under my beloved light……my daughter’s head crashed into this:
Don’t worry, my daughter was okay but I think my husband was traumatized!
