Crafting!

I must admit (Tessa will agree) I’m a crafter!  There–I said it…I like to make things and there have been times that I have been known to have too many ‘crafted’ items in my house.  Sometimes I get caught up in the cute projects but in all honesty they never really work with my home decor.

However, I think holiday crafts made by kids can be cute but not too ‘crafty’.  I’m been on Pinterest a little too much these past few days trying to find an easy art project for my first grader’s classroom party on Friday.  After hours of searching, (let’s face it I got a little side tracked by some beautiful bathrooms) I came across a few holiday crafts that I would love to have my kids make at home. My four year old daughter wants to create anything but it takes a little more to keep my seven year old entertained and amazed by an art project.  Here are a few that I think would make both of my kids happy.

These glass ornaments are gorgeous and are made by heating up broken crayons that are stuck inside the ornaments with a hair dryer!  My kids would love watching this happen before their eyes.

These snowflakes are sure to be a crowd pleaser for any age and what a great topper for a wrapped gift!  You only need two ingredients and a few hours of sleep, yes I said sleep.  Step by step instructions here.

This one is definitely cute but oh my, this would keep my kids busy for at least an hour! This cute little snowman is made out of cotton swabs stuck into styrofoam balls.  I think I will save this craft for the second week of winter break when we all need a little ‘alone’ time.

How fun would it be to make a gumdrop wreath.  So pretty and tasty!

These are so adorable and would look cute sitting on a windowsill.  Easy enough for a four year old to complete!

Okay, maybe these crafts won’t make Tessa cringe the next time she comes over and sees one of them displayed in my house.  Or, maybe they will!
