I was perusing Pinterest last night which doesn’t happen very often these days (I was suppose to be cleaning the kitchen while my husband was upstairs getting the kids ready for bed–shh, don’t tell!) and I came across a photo from House & Home that made me stop and think about counter seating.
While I love this look, especially because the benches are upholstered, wouldn’t it be an inconvenience every time you wanted to get up or sit down to be moving the bench back and forth? I don’t know if this particular look is for our family with three kids but maybe when my husband and I are in retirement I could see how sitting down on a nice, padded bench to read the paper and drink my coffee would make me a very happy woman!
Because this bench is not the length of the counter, it must make it easier to get in and out. Btw-I love the lamps on the island, library lights on the wall and that beautiful open shelving! My three favorite things all in one place!
The striped bench adds a little flair to this otherwise all white kitchen.
A backless bench would be much easier to share with another person.
Saving this photo for my open shelving inspiration file, too!
Let’s not only talk about the bright punch of fabric in a gorgeous kitchen but also the beautiful countertop. Does anyone know what it is called?
I would expect this kitchen to have some type of modern barstool but the softness of the bench works well in this space.
Okay, this photo might be a little cheesy but I couldn’t resist sharing this beautiful kitchen. The three benches work well at this long kitchen island. Once again, the lamp on the counter makes the room look so inviting.
It was relatively easy to find some great counter height bench options.
Ballard Designs has a ton of different fabrics to choose from.
Anything tufted makes me do a happy dance. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bench!
So, what do you think–would you use a bench instead of stools in your kitchen?
We do have a counter that we will need seating for once the kids are bigger (getting close to putting away high chair). The bench could be a bit awkward depending on the size, but I like this idea – never seen it before for counter height. Something new to ponder. They sure look great – I love the fun fabrics. I will have to consult you guys about it at some point. : )
Yay! For highchair free days. =) We would love to help you pick something for your counter.
Just wish I had a kitchen with a counter top to use a bench or barstool. 🙂
