I love fashion, but to be honest with you, I’ve let it slide recently. When I was working in PR, there was always an excuse to look cute. Now (sadly) I’ll settle for getting myself showered and having my kids to school on time. I’d also rather spend the money on fun things for my house. And, really what’s the point in me buying any clothes right now? I should save that when I bounce back about 45 pounds post baby (no seriously that’s what the last two were!) There are so many great trends this season that look great on the runway and also in the home…
1. Animal print
Animal print has been a steady for the last few years. Here it is on super trendy loafers (LOVE the burnt orange tassels!!)
Zebra print is a great way to add a pop to any room. I have these pillows on my family room couch:
2. Python
This shirt would look so cute with skinny jeans or tucked into a pencil skirt
Need to liven up a dresser or coffee table? A python tray is a perfect solution.
3. Color blocking
This bold bag is a great size and would brighten up any fall sweater
See how the same idea can translate to walls? I think it would be fun to add a thin orange stripe above the pink area!
4. Leather
I adore leather–leather jackets, leather leggings…and yes, I’m perfectly fine with pleather instead!
(OMG, how I wish I had legs that would look good in these–ADORE!)
Yes, leather chairs are a perfect accent, but if you don’t want to go all out for a new chair, try something like this Jamie Young lamp
5. Purple
Love it when there’s a color in trend that actually looks good on me! (yeah, that neon yellow from the summer…not so much…) Purple is one of the hottest colors of the season. This purple clutch is an easy watch to incorporate it into your wardrobe.
For your home either go bold and paint an entire room or bring in a few accent pieces.
So, I won’t be wearing leather pants anytime soon and if I wore that snakeskin shirt, I’d look like a python who swallowed a large rat, BUT, I can definitely do a new tray or pillow!
Tessa,
Congrats on the great news! Been reading and absolutely love your blog. Thank you for sharing your and Amy’s terrific ideas.
All the best….adaire
Glad you have a sense of humour!
