Reveal of a Reader’s Design Executed: Sewing Nook

This week, our friend Cheryl over at Charlotte Smarty Pants blogged about her new “mom cave”–a sewing/craft corner that she created in her home. Back in May, Cheryl came to us for help with this area. She had a space in her master bedroom that she was using, but wasn’t thrilled with it. Cheryl came to us asking for help on how she could keep all of her existing furniture since she’d just bought it, but create a better layout, have better storage solutions and generally just make the space look prettier. We gave her a couple of designs to work from that would address these needs (you can see them here) and it was so fun to see her post this week with how the suggestions were put in play!

Here’s what Cheryl’s space looked like when she contacted to us.

And here’s how the room looks now that she’s implemented the ideas from the design boards!

As you can see, Cheryl implemented changes that were both functional and beautiful. First, she moved her desk under the window–much nicer to look out the windows than at a wall, but it also allowed her to free up working space. A colorful bulletin board and new roman shades frame out the space and a gorgeous upholstered chair adds color, but is also super comfy. In terms of storage, she used a combination of closed and open storage baskets for her Container Store shelves.

You can see some additional pictures and hear how Cheryl pulled this together here. LOVE your new little “mom cave” Cheryl, but most importantly, glad you love it too!
