Ikea Ritva Curtains

I’m always looking for cheap ways to add drapery to a room.  Drapery can be an expensive purchase and even more expensive when you add curtain rods.  I was perusing the internet looking for cheap but nice looking drapes.  Here are a few photos that caught my eye and would you believe these drapes are from Ikea (DIY in different ways of course!):

Last week, I made the long jaunt to Ikea.  This time it was a different experience because my husband and three kids came.  Let’s just say it wasn’t quite the same and I don’t think I will ever do that again.  The kid’s club was closed so we were stuck walking the aisles with three whiny kids.  I was there solely to hunt down  the Ritva Curtains and see if they really did have the look that good in person.  Oh, and grab a cinnamon roll!

Let’s just say they didn’t disappoint.  Even though they are 100% cotton, they have the look and feel of a linen texture.  They come in white, black, gray, medium brown and red.  And as you can see from the examples above, so many ways to personalize.  If you’re looking for drapes for your living room, bedroom or a kid’s room it’s worth the trek out to Ikea.  Check back on Friday and I will show you a DIY project I’m going to attempt with these drapes (maybe I should say, my mom is going to attempt).

Boo!

Boo is the name given by my children to my new desk chair….

photo

turns out my family thought it was really funny when I told them I had purchased a ghost chair.

photo

I’ve been debating about this chair forever and decided to finally pull the trigger.  I have to admit, it was love at first sight!

photo

The ever-favorite ghost chair originates from Phillipe Starcke for Kartell.  It instantly gives any room a modern update but if you decide to purchase the original design it will set you back $410 dollars.  I recently stumbled upon an alternative version on LexMod and decided to order so I could see quality. Ordering a ghost chair through LexMod will cost you around $100 dollars per chair.  And, just in case you are skeptical about purchasing a knockoff ghost chair, Jackie over at York Avenue summed up all the research you need to know when comparing the real and the knockoff versions.

There are so many different ways to utilize this chair in your home, whether it be for an office area, dining room table or as an occasional chair in your living room.

Or consider putting one in an entry way where you don’t have much space.

Home Depot Lighting

While I definitely like Home Depot for my basic house needs I don’t consider them a great resource for products with good design–that is until now!  While searching online for some lighting, I found their ZUO line with has great design with a small price tag.

1. ZUO Amethyst
//2. ZUO Bronze //3.ZUO Sapphire//4.ZUO Cassius//5.Alpha Floor Lamp//6.ZUO Bradyon//7.ZUO Cascade

1.  Perfect light fixture for an entryway!  The bronze finish keeps it from looking too modern so that would blend in with traditional decor as well.

2.  I’ve been trying to figure out where I could incorporate this pendant light into my home–LOVE it!  I think it would be great in a kids bathroom and I could even see two of these over a rustic wood dining room table.

3.  This pendant has been one of my favorites for a long time.  It comes in two sizes and a nickel finish.  Would love to see the nickel finish in my office area and I think Tessa should put the bronze finish in her entryway. Now we just have to convince our husbands to let us change our light fixtures AGAIN.

4.  This one is a steal at 50.00!  Could look great in a girl’s nursery or bathroom or even over a huge soaking bathtub!

5.  While this is not a pendant light, I couldn’t help but include such a nice looking floor lamp.

6.  This is by far my favorite find at Home Depot.  Large enough in scale to be placed over a dining room table in a more formal setting or  I would love to see it over a rustic wood table.

7.  Everyone needs a little bling in their house!

I will definitely consider Home Depot one of my go-to stores from now on.  Happy Shopping!
