Round Tables as Kitchen Islands

No room for an island? Check out this gorgeous substitute in the kitchen of designer Sabrina Linn (a former editor at House and Home.) I love how it breaks up the empty space in the kitchen, can be used as another serving surface, but mostly, adds a very personal flair. And the tone of the wood plays beautifully off the dark cabinetry with brass hardware.

So, I did a quick search on Etsy and here are a few tables that could work in a similar fashion. Oh, and as a side note, if you love the rug, check out this one from West Elm!

This one would look great in a Spanish Colonial home–love the nailhead detail along the edge.

Or, slightly different with a different base and no nailhead, but still in black

I love the distressed grey of this one

Also very similar from the same vendor–this one really reminds me of the inspiration shot

I love the idea of using a tulip table in this way as well–this would look great in an all white kitchen and that walnut color top is a big trend in home decor right now

And of course, you could always pull up a couple of chairs or stools.

  1. how unique. never thought of this but can think of several friends with kitchens that would look adorable with little round tables in the middle! your chair comment at the end has me thinking…i could add a couple industrial metal stools on the side of my island closest to the front door, just as extra seating…thoughts?
