Bittersweet Design Dilemma

Having a newborn in the house has become bittersweet. The bitter part is me sitting around feeding a baby and then looking at everything that is wrong with my house.  I have been staring at my UGLY barstools for three weeks now and have decided they must be dealt with soon.

Barstools always stump me a bit.  I don’t ever seem to find ones that I LOVE.  I can find ones that I like but either the design is great but not comfortable or they are comfortable but don’t have great design.   I bought some inexpensive ones when we moved in but of course, have never been happy with them.

Here’s a shot of my current barstools:

Not at all what you would picture in my house, right?   That’s why they MUST. GO!

The barstools also need to blend in with my new dining room chairs that are in the same room.  Here is a shot of the other side of the room.

I was originally considering these but I don’t think the finish will go well with the nickel finish on the Eames dining room chairs.

Then I came across this image on pinterest and thought these would work but maybe in a different color?

But how cool are these?   Although, not sure they would be the most comfortable.  P.S. don’t you love the light fixture?

But after seeing this photo on pinterest…I think this is a better option and something I hadn’t considered.

I love everything in this photo; clean crisp tile, light fixtures, burst of yellow in the roman shade and barstools.  I adore the open kitchen shelving.  This is an inspiration photo that might inspire me to do some small renovating in my own kitchen.

There are a ton of retailers online and most diner stools are selling for 55.00 a piece. This seems so much more reasonable then the previous ones I considered at over 150.00 a stool.

Now if I only I can convince my husband to paint our cabinets white!
