Thanks everyone for your well wishes after my announcement on Friday! Hope you all had a great weekend–it was a beautiful, crisp fall weekend in Chicago. Yup, it’s here…fall…the official bye bye to summer and for many of us in the northern part of the country the inevitable spiral toward winter. Arghhhh. I must say though as I get bigger by the day, I’m happy to put the 100 degree days behind me…away go the dresses and out come the jeans and sweaters; sad to say goodbye to flip-flops, but happy to say hello to boots!
Fall is also the perfect time to take a look at your home and make little changes that cozy it up. I have to admit, I’m not much of a seasonal accessorizer…mostly because by the time I get my act together, the season has passed! So, unlike Amy I can’t pull off a fall-themed mantle and if I get my mums planted by Thanksgiving (just in time to pull them up for Christmas) I consider that pretty good. So, I’m always looking at easy things I can do to change up my seasonal decor.
Consider bringing in some deeper toned pillows in soft fabrics and soft blankets to your family and living room…great for cozying up when watching movies

Since you won’t be spending as much time outside, bring the outside in by decorating with wooden accessories and natural elements like leaves. I love doing a big vase of tree branches on my dining room table
Or filling a bowl like this one with little pumpkins–come December, you could just switch those to pine cones and red berries.
Since fall also means the kick off of the entertaining season, I love a simple candelabra for my dining table. You can just change of the decor around the candelabra–weave leaves, little pumpkins, evergreen, etc.around the base to create the perfect centerpiece. They’re so versatile.
It’s also fun to incorporate fall trends in an affordable way–brass and bronze accents are hot right now. I never like spending a lot following a trend, but at 69.99 this little side table would be worth it…
Or grab a pair of gorgeous bronze hurricanes for your mantle or dining table…as the days get shorter, candles create a perfect cozy atmosphere.
Tomorrow, Amy is going to share a few ideas for fall decorating that she’s applied to her own home. Ok, gotta go run outside and unwrap and plant my mums from Costco…I swear they’ll be out of the plastic before Thanksgiving!
