Dining Room Resources

Thanks for all of your kind comments about my dining room transformation last week. It’s definitely one of my favorite rooms in my house. I also received some requests about the sources for pulling the room together. One thing I tried to do is create an eclectic feel by mixing items from different stores–some a little higher end and some super affordable.

The wallpaper is what really makes this room. It’s from Kenneth James and is called Leaf Scroll. I scoured wallpaper books for the perfect look and was then able to find it at an online retailer for much cheaper than in most stores. Because the wallpaper is busy and more formal, I wanted the window treatments to be very simple. The linen roman shades were custom made by a local contact, but they’re certainly available from many vendors–big ones like Smith + Nobel as well as independents you can find on Etsy (just search custom roman shade and you can often just sent measurements and your fabric.)

The pendant light is from Restoration Hardware and was the first item I bought when we moved into our house. It’s a great complement to the table and shape of the room. FYI, RH is having their lighting sale right now so most lighting is 25% off!

The two pieces of artwork were scored from a One King’s Lane sale. If you are not a member of One King’s Lane, you need to click on that link immediately and sign up to get their daily emails. They’re definitely a favorite sale site–unique pieces and amazing sample sales by designers. Every day they have different items to purchase at usually more than half-off the full price. I also get great inspiration ideas by checking their site daily.

The side chair (I purchased two and pull them up to the table when we entertain) is from TJ Maxx. This store is so great for furnishing your home with a high-end look at a low price. I’ve found that their furniture is surprisingly good quality, too. In order to find the best deals, you need to pop by this store at least once a week because their inventory clears out fast and is always changing. And, avoid overdosing in the home accessories aisle…it can get to be a little too much!

I was pretty set on finding a 60″ round pedestal table for this room. It was easy to find a 60″ round table but not a pedestal one. One day I was looking on Etsy and realized that their are some sellers that sell big furniture pieces–I honestly had no idea.  I purchased this table from Heritage Interiors working with a Shaun Miller and I couldn’t have been happier. I was able to negotiate free shipping, too!  I love this table because it is rustic looking and I don’t have to worry about getting dents are scratches on the table. The more scratches, the better it looks!

The four primary dining room chairs around the table are the Sasha chairs in a stocked fabric-tempo khaki-from Crate & Barrel.

One last thought–I debated doing an area rug in the room, but in the end liked the clean, simple feeling of the bare floor. Let me know if you have additional questions.
