One thing you’ve likely gotten from this blog, is that Amy and I really do offer two perspectives–while we certainly agree on a lot, we have different personalities that are reflected in our design aesthetic (as you probably noticed from our very first post!) Amy likes order and symmetry which you saw in her approach to (and reveal of) her gallery wall. I tend to take a little bit of a more haphazard approach and love a more eclectic look. So, thought today we’d give you a second approach to a gallery wall.
Here are a few of my favorites:
The wall is very organized in its layout, but eclectic in its choice of frames and artwork
Love this alternative to one big piece of art for over a couch
It’s so cool how the shelf and lamp in this living room become part of this gallery wall
Another example by the same designer–notice how the credenza lamps are incorporated into the gallery wall design. I love this room–so many fun surprises–from the pink on the chairs to the turquoise stools under the console.
Another perfect place for a more deconstructed gallery wall is above your bed. This layout is more symmetrical than some of the others I chose, but it is still varied in frames, style of art, etc.
Remember, antique stores and flea markets are great sources for affordable art–mix prints, drawings, paintings, etc. Just pick what you’re attracted to. Also check out your local thrift store for art and frames–don’t love the art, just take it out and use the frame for something else.
hmmm…that mix above the bed has me thinking…thanks!
Yes, I too tend to the eclectic, and the “surprise” element of it all…
