Attic Home Theater

I was reading the latest issue of Coastal Living and they’re featuring their annual Ultimate Beach House in Rosemary Beach, Florida. Obviously beautiful and some really interesting use of space–since it’s a beach house, you’d expect here to be lots of room for guests and they certainly did that.

One of my favorite rooms though is the attic home theater:

Living in an area with a lot of old Victorian homes, we looked at so many house that had attics exactly like this:

The Coastal Living picture was so inspirational. What a great use of the space! I love the different levels of lighting they chose (GORGEOUS by Circa Lighting!)–hanging pendants bring your eye down and sconces create a movie theater feel without it feeling gimicky. The round pendants and double chaise lounges (by Lee Industries) with their curved backs soften the very angular room. Another clever feature of the room is the grasscloth on the walls and ceiling–perfect for covering up all the surround sound.

Here’s a close-up of the chaises-each with a blanket and custom pillow-and garden stools being used as side tables.

Any of these rooms would be perfect for watching movies, but the Coastal Living one is still my favorite!

  1. Gorgeous!! Love this — too bad I don’t have an attic. I would adore a home theater like this! What a great idea and a fun post to read!
