Just a Beautiful Room

It’s Monday and the weekend was a little crazy–my parents left on Saturday morning, I turned the guest room over and Andy’s mom came Saturday night–in between we decided to take the kids to see Disney Live and go to dinner…first outing out with all three and it was an adventure! Yesterday Andy left for his first business trip since we had the baby so his mom and I are left in charge (survivial mode might be better wording so if my posts seem bizarre this week just thought I’d give a little background on why!) Anyway, thought I’d brighten the day with a beautiful room I found.

What do I love about it?

  • Good mix of traditional and more contemporary lines and pieces.
  • Mixture of patterns–those chairs are seriously to die for. I love how they give a huge pop of interest and color to the room, but at the same time feel very neutral because the colors are in line with the rest of the room. The lines of the chair are gorgeous too–the open sides and slight swoop down of the arms, narrow legs–amazing!
  • Rustic elements like the little side table (the mirrored top is a nice add that glams it up a bit and adds another “texture” to the room) and the bamboo shades keep things casual.
  • Mix of high and low–those bookcases are just four 2×6 square IKEA Expedits stacked on top of each other and the baskets at the bottom are IKEA as well. They fit seamlessly with the other more custom pieces in the room like the chairs. Hanging that traditional mirror changes the look of the bookcases and seems to take them from low cost IKEA to a more custom look.
  • I also think the coffee table is styled beautifully–simple flowers add color, the books are eclectic (and look like they actually might be read!) and the glass bottles welcome entertaining and add some sparkle.
