When Amy and I were out at IKEA a couple of weeks ago, I picked up this little white lack table:
At 7.99, I figured this is the perfect little table for my daughter’s room; the perfect table on which to have tea parties on and do art projects. If it gets drawn on, big deal. This is a great little table–not just because it’s cheap, but because it’s like a blank canvas! I love seeing what people have done with the lack table. Here are some fun ideas you might want to consider.
The perfect way to make something look more polished and high end–add nailhead! Erin over at the blog Clementine and Olive, took inspiration from a gorgeous Bungalow 5 table to create this masterpiece using two tables–one full one and the top of another one since the legs and top come separately you can do this.
Over at Lacquer & Linen, you can see the process of making this version with nailhead and some corbels:
Jenny from Little Green Notebook used a sky blue version of the table (no longer available, but there is a sweet grey version) to create two campaign-style tables to serve as a coffee table:
This one from the blog Simply N Amoured is a bit loftier and involves some custom welding (don’t think I have the patience for that!) but apparently ended up costing only about $60 which is much cheaper than similar designer tables.
This is a creative idea from What Else Michelle for a damaged table. String, a placemat and a lot of glue and this is the look Michelle gets:
You could take a similar approach using leftover wallpaper or wrapping paper.
Have a big dog? We have a raised dog feeder that cost a pretty penny for our Lab. This is super clever!
And, one last idea–these little side tables are perfect for upholstering. Foam, glue, fabric and you’ve got a cute little ottoman like Genevieve at Turned to Design:
Lots of fun ideas–and yes, they’re applied to the Lack side table, but you could really make them work for any little table you have. You should see some of the ideas for the Lack coffee table!
Thanks so much for featuring my Ikea hack!! I love that welded table, but it would definitely be a little over my head in terms of construction!!
