So today is going to be a quick post. It’s Thursday night and the baby has been crying for two straight hours…brutal. Yesterday a friend was over and she commented that Amy and I are making it look so easy balancing the blog, some clients and new babies. I have to admit though, it’s not always easy to find the inspiration to write a post after dealing with three kids all day and getting little sleep at night, but one thing I’ve realized after being both a working mom (I quit when baby #2 was just over a year) and a stay-at-home mom, is that you always need something for yourself; something that you enjoy doing and feel good about. That’s what this blog is for me–a creative outlet that is mine, not my husband’s and not my kids’…just mine. So, even when it’s super tough to carve out the hour or two each day to write a decent post, I remind myself that this is fun. Anyway on to the post (now that baby Will is asleep for at least two hours!)…
Do any of you follow The Everygirl? It’s this great website out of our city, Chicago, that is geared toward young women as a resource for their lives–inspiring them in career, home, money, etc. Honestly, I’m probably (read AM) too old for the site, but I still love going on and checking out what they have to say. I discovered it not long ago after one of our favorite bloggers Erin Gates from Elements of Style was featured on the site. So, I was happy to see another great home feature this week–the founder Alaina Kaczmarski’s apartment.
Amy and I are huge fans of tripod lamps. I also like how Alaina has used the ladder functionally for blankets, but it also serves to warm up the room since the overall color scheme is very black and white.
Nice to see Alaina is a fan of the sunburst mirror–and note the bistro chairs. Design Within Reach has these as a barstool that we just recommended for a client. LOVE.
Go bold in the bedroom (is that appropriate everygirl advice??)
Beautiful bright spot to work. Love how the tall swing lamp complements the ceiling detail.
Such a great apartment–makes me feel nostalgic for the times when I decorated my first apartment in Lakeview…which was nothing close to this, but I still felt great about it! To see more pics and a list of sources go here. Have a great weekend!
I love that bedroom color and the ceilings…gasp I want
