Kid’s Homework Station

Remember my New Year’s Resolution post?  I’m slowly starting to tackle this list but not in the exact order that I should be. I seem to be scattered, doing bits and pieces and never really completing anything. My focus this week is supposed to be figuring out how to lower our fireplace mantel so we can mount the TV above. But, instead I stumbled upon a photo today that will most definitely throw my to-do list out of order again.

One of my resolutions this year is to create a kid’s homework station where the current settee is in this photo:

This nook is right off the kitchen so it makes an ideal spot for me to keep an eye on the  kids as they  do homework and play on the computer. And, here’s the photo I found for inspiration:

I loved this photo because the desks are long and narrow and don’t take up a lot of room. Because this homework station would be opposite my desk, which is a rustic, wood parsons desk–I wanted something that was metal and even high gloss in a perfect world.  I couldn’t find the source for these desks in the photo but today I stumbled upon…

Ikea

Meet the Besta Burs from Ikea! At 70″ wide and only 16″ deep it’s the perfect kid’s workstation desk.  And, as a bonus it has drawers.

Now if I can just talk my husband into going to Ikea this weekend!

  1. Happy to go to Ikea anytime. Better yet: How about I watch the kids and you go. 😉 Can’t wait until we have this for the kids.

  2. I jut saw that desk in person at Ikea and LOVED it!! I was there in search of a desk (or desk compenents). Unfortunately , that one was too small for what I needed it for. Thought it would make a cute bedroom vanity one day in the future though!
