I feel like there’s an endless debate between designers and the public over fans–lots of people love them and lots of designers can’t stand them. It’s the end of June and the heat has finally arrived so the debate has begun in my own house. I have a seriously ugly white fan in my master bedroom, but have been in a battle of wills with my husband who wants to keep a fan while I want to replace it with a gorgeous pendant light…and so we find ourselves with an ugly fan in our bedroom (and an unending argument.)
In the event you do need/want to use a fan, here are some good choices…
TheĀ Gusto Ceiling Fan by QuorumĀ is great for smaller spaces. It’s a good choice for you renters who either don’t have AC and might not want to install a wall unit or just want to spruce up an existing ceiling fan, but don’t want to spend a lot of money–it’s under $150!
Another good option is the Studio Ceiling Fan by Monte Carlo for it’s clean, simple lines and variety of finishes. Also under $200.
This Java Ceiling Fan can be used indoors or outdoors (i.e. great for a covered porch) I really like it’s low profile. You’ve probably noticed that all the fans I’ve chosen don’t have lights–that’s one thing I’m not a fan of. Definitely not as practical I know, but my theory is do the fan, fine, but limit the attention that fan is getting and just add another lamp in the room instead!
This Wing Ceiling Fan by Minka Aire would be a good choice for a living room–sleek, but also really warm looking.
Here’s another great one from Minka Aire for a living room–this becomes an accessory in the room rather than just a functional fan. Reminds me of a live edge table! Could also add a rustic tone to a bedroom.
So, maybe you don’t want to spend hundreds on your fan. I actually like using cheap utility fansĀ like this Utility Ceiling Fan by Ellington Fans. At under $100, they’re low profile and really simple…aka you barely notice them in the room and in your wallet!
So, don’t sweat on not finding a stylish fan! (sorry, couldn’t help myself!)
