Pantone Spring 2014 Colors

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Good one around here. My husband and I celebrated our nine year anniversary (in fairness though, we’ve been together 14 years so should get full credit for time served!) Headed out for an amazing dinner at Chicago Cut with a table overlooking the Chicago River. Beautiful view…

Then headed over to the Terrace on the 16th floor of Trump International–another amazing view looking east down the river overlooking the Wrigley and Tribune buildings. (Here I am doing my best Kardashian pose…I know it’s cliche, but seriously it stopped me from looking like a chevron blob.)

So while I was recovering from my night out (ok, to be honest, we were home by 10, but that’s partying hard for me these days!) I was checking out all the Instagram updates from Fashion Week. With Fashion Week going on in NY, Pantone announced their top colors for Spring 2014. This year’s top choice is called Dazzling Blue:

While the colors are first and foremost influenced by fashion, you inevitably see them influencing interiors. Spring’s colors are described as muted brights…yes, you’re right, those do seem like contradicting words! Here are the top ten, though and you can actually see that it makes sense when you see the colors–they’re all fun brights, but at the same time have a calming feel about them.

So, looking to be on trend? Look for little ways to add the colors into your home…

Don’t settle for just a functional garden hose, get one in dazzling blue!

This little stool would look great as a night table in a little boy’s room!

Kids rooms are a great place to play out trendy colors–although this lavender table lamp would look fab on an entry console in the big “kids” space too

Or, update your office with a fun yellow chair

But, maybe you’re not quite ready to embrace yellow quite that much. Well, instead for under $10, grab these old school scissors

A little Paloma Grey and Sand anyone?

So, no need to paint an entire room (and please no accent walls!) or order a custom sofa in one of these colors, just add a few fun accessories.
