A Bit of Randomness and a Little Bragging

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian friends and (my!) family. It was a super busy weekend for both Amy and me. I headed to Philadelphia with the whole fam to go to my grandfather’s 90th birthday. Such a fun time–he is amazing–still passionate about life, can have a great political discussion and gives great hugs. I love that my kids got to spend time with him. I’m so far away from so much of my family that it makes it really special when we get to do things that seem so normal to other families.

I’m still waiting for some pics from the weekend, but have this one from Instagram– me with my daughter, my adorable cousin Katie on the far left and another cousin’s girlfriend, Emily, who is a great fashion/lifestyle blogger in North Carolina and also totally adorable.

What you can’t see in this pic are the fab new wedges I’m wearing–kind of obsessed.

Since I stopped working in corporate America and going into an office every day, I rarely shop at Banana Republic, but I love this Maisie Wedge — my husband thinks they’re a little Peg Bundy, but I totally disagree! The best part, they’re doing 40% off right now so if I hate them in a year it’s not the end of the world!

Anyway, on to the bragging…  I’ve mentioned it in the past, but my sister-in-law, Lacey, is a really talented photographer. So, I was so excited to hear that she just had her first photograph published! So proud of her–a beautiful shot taken near where she lives in Point Reyes, California (just outside of San Francisco.) A men’s fashion and lifestyle mag picked it up

You can see more of her pics here and she also has an etsy store where she has some of her prints for sale. Here are a few of my favorites…

Marina City is one of the most iconic addresses in Chicago–love this angle and think it would look amazing printed on canvas really big or part of a gallery wall.

I actually have that  one of a feather (taken in Alaska) up in my house–you can see it here on my master bedroom built-ins–you can also see it works well in either direction. (BTW, the portrait on the shelf above is by my dad–whom I’ve mentioned before is an amazing painter and you can see more of his work here.)

Lacey also has some beautiful shots of horses too–these look gorgeous framed and make a big impact in a room

Lacey also does a lot of family portraits–super simple and natural looking–in case you’re in the San Francisco area and looking for some good pics! Congrats Lacey on your first published pic!

Oh and a little more randomness–World Market is on their final day of their 25% off friends and family FNFSHIP gives you the discount even on sale items!
