Way Beyond Builder Grade

I have some friends who live in Calgary, Alberta and was looking for some ideas to share with them when I came across Melissa at Veranda Interiors. She and her husband build custom homes that are seriously gorgeous. I started following her on Instagram and it’s like one eye candy pic after another. Their homes are beautiful architectural features that also have a great family-friendly practicality to them.

Here are some of my favorite rooms…

I’d move right into this family room–dying over all the storage! Even though I’m not a fan of TVs over the fireplace, sometimes it’s the most practical spot and in this room, they’ve done a really nice job of balancing the bulk of the TV with the built-ins and windows.

Check out the details in this office–the fret work on the built in… the light… the floors…  gorgeous. Really like how they added the transom above the double doors to balance the height of the built-in.

Check out the pretty details in this bathroom for little girls–how cute are those mirrors with the dainty sconces, the mauve ceiling(!), the edge on the countertop, the penny tile floor and beautiful hardware on the drawers.

The dark grout and simple mirror make these amazing sconces stand out. This image had made me completely rethink my powder room–Must. Have. Those. Lights.

Speaking of white subway tile, dark grout and library lights…

Finally, I think I might be obsessed with this mud room. This wallpaper is so fun and unexpected and the David Hicks pendant is a great choice in any room!

You can tell they’ve thought not only about the beauty of the spaces they create, but also how livable they are. Makes me want to build!
