Teal is typically not a color I use to decorate my own home. Some shades seem a bit too bold for me but lately (maybe because it’s FREEZING outside) I have been gravitating towards more dark rooms and I think if you use the right shade of teal, it can make the room feel so cozy!
This show space inside Room and Board is what made me think twice about teal. That rug is gorgeous!
These dark teal walls are so pretty next to the wallpapered entryway. The cream furniture pops in this room and who would have ever thought a cheetah looking rug would look so good with teal???
As you can see, all types of finishes work for frames in a room with teal walls. However, I think gold and walnut might be my favorite.
The subtle rug balances the dramatic teal walls. Such a pretty color for a bedroom.
These next three photos are all part of the same house. You will see teal in each room and I think it’s important to notice that they carried the color through each room but in varying amounts. Even if teal isn’t your color, this house is a great example of how to carry a color you love to several rooms of your house.
LOVE how they went bold and used teal on the walls! Such a perfect “pop” to an otherwise neutral room.
The red ottoman works in this room on such a bold rug because the walls and window treatments were kept neutral. If you like bold colors and patterns keep the walls and drapery neutral and decorate away on the floor and furniture adding pops of color.
Would you consider using teal in your own home?
yes and yes! I’ve got teal scattered throughout my home, from watery blues to deeper tones. but because i’m going for a light, bright, beachy look, I’ve stuck to incorporating the color with accessories rather than painting entire walls with it.
I loooooove the teal! Definitely adds warmth- and it’s a little unexpected. Food for thought…
