There are few things more Canadian than a Hudson’s Bay blanket–well, maybe hockey and donuts. First produced in 1800 (yes, 1800!) this blanket is a signature of the Hudson’s Bay Company (and its department store The Bay.)
As a Canadian, I feel like it’s just a given that I have a Hudson Bay blanket in my house. The weird part is that it took my American mother-in-law sending me one of her old ones, for me to get one! I guess it was fate she’d have a Canadian daughter-in-law…
This hearty wool blanket is my husband’s favorite thing to curl up with while watching TV (no, it’s not me as would have been the natural choice right?!)
Perfect for a kid’s room, but classic enough for grown ups…
Ok, so I would not like to cut mine up, but say I find a vintage one that needs to be reinvented, here are a few ideas…
There’s now a new version in shades of brown that was introduced in celebration of the millenium (looks grey here, but it’s more like a grayish brown as you can see here)
Oh Canada….
OMG — I love that wingback chair and those pillows!! Such a fun and fresh way to use such a traditional pattern. Great ideas!
