Some Good Stuff

Happy Monday–another day with school closed due to extreme cold and another day my kids will go totally stir crazy in the house. Luckily the weekend was a little better so my husband had them running around on Saturday and while baby Will was sleeping, I walked over three baskets of laundry waiting to put away and sat my behind on the couch for half an hour to go through the Feb issue of House & Home. SO MUCH GOOD STUFF in this issue!

Here are a few things I pulled out…excuse the crappy pics–I’m testing out a new iPhone scanning app!

These stools are everywhere and I think they add such a fun pop of color to a space–kitchen, play room or even a cute little stool to sit on while folding in your laundry room. Target has them in navy, yellow or green on sale for $69 for two!

There are loads of great homes in this month’s issue. You know how Amy and I love library lights and these ones look perfect in this gorgeous kitchen designed by Trish Johnson. They kind of give the space an studious industrial bistro feel (if that’s such a thing!) which is also reflected in the simple white subway tile with dark grout.

I turned the page and saw this feature on the home of designer Ingrid Oomen…those moldings! And it all used to be the original dark wood and she painted it! We get asked a lot about painting wood trim, etc. and the answer always is: do you want to paint it? How do you see your house?

It’s a gutsy move, and looks fab.

Her bathroom is insane! Check out that floor and I love the rustic little stool that keeps things grounded. The half glass wall is a trend we’re seeing a lot.

Another feature I loved was the renovated home of H&H Style Editor Sarah Hartill. Such a gorgeous, eclectic home.

This dining room is the perfect blend of casual family and sophisticated grown up space (again, if you can see beyond the crappy scanning.) We saw the little black chair at IKEA last week–great for the toddlers in your house.

(This pic also didn’t turn out very well…working out the kinks of the app still) Notice the brass picture light above the mirror in the bathroom–such an unexpected touch and makes the bathroom!

Check out Hartill’s son’s room where two IKEA beds are put next to each other–perfect for a sleepover or extra guests. And with another take on the Hudson’s Bay blanket.

You did it again H&H–reconfirmed your status as my favorite mag and worth the subscription fee!
