Crate and Barrel

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with a friend (thanks, S!) eating, getting our nails done and of course, shopping!  The one store we always seem to pop into is Crate and Barrel.  Neither one of us ever needs anything but it’s just one of those stores that I could spend hours just wandering around and looking at all of the kitchen gadgets and dishes.  I have two ‘must’ have favorite items that I currently own and would recommend to anyone.

These dessert dishes have become a staple in our house.  When we were newly married, they served as a grown up way to serve our guests dessert.  Now they have turned into yogurt parfait dishes for my kids.  There’s something special for my kids about being served in ‘fancy’ dishes.  At 2.95, they’re a great deal.  When we registered for these when we got married they were only 2.50 and that was almost ten years ago. They also look great displayed on open kitchen shelving.

It’s no secret that I prefer my dishes to be simple, and most of all WHITE.  These mugs are a ‘Crate and Barrel Essential Best Buys’  for a reason!  At 3.95 a piece they are the perfect size, your nose does not get trapped when you tip your cup up to drink, your fingers can easily wrap around the handle and most important, they are the perfect size for lattes.

Okay, now on to some new items that had me excited!

This bedding would be so cute in a girl’s room.  Why is it I can always find bedding for kids’ rooms but never for my own room?

Love these square trays–especially the orange color!  I don’t think you can ever have too many trays in your house, place one on your coffee table to corral books, serve tea to your girlfriends, or place on your dining room table to catch all of the ‘junk’ that accumulates!

This chair looks purplish in this photo but it was a true cobalt blue in the store.  The chair itself was so comfortable…however, I don’t know that I would be brave enough to commit to this fabric.  But definitely don’t pass this chair up if you are looking for a barrel back chair with a low profile because it can be custom in any of their fabrics.

LOVED this warm wood tone table that is the perfect size for a narrow space but big enough to set your drink down.  The tapered legs allow this table to fit in the tightest spots!

This photo doesn’t do this cabinet justice-such a gorgeous cabinet with a beautiful grey-veined marble top.

And lastly, for all of you living in tight spaces and want to maximize your storage (who doesn’t?) I thought these storage ottomans were a great idea.

Hope all of you are staying warm!  Tessa is probably having a ‘magical’ time on her Disney cruise in the Bahamas. Maybe she will check in with us and talk about design on a Disney cruise ship!
