Have a guy in your life (or maybe you’re one!) who appreciates not only functionality but also beautiful design? Need a gift for that special guy this holiday season? Here are a few of my favorites…
1. This simple maple clock with LED display is perfect for a desk or bedside table. No,it doesn’t have anything fancy (or I guess status quo these days) like iPod connector or iPhone charging, but it does have great modern design.
2. From one of my favorite local sources for gifts, Stitch Chicago, comes this ebony jewelry box…yup, jewelry box and this is a list for men, but take a look at this gorgeous little box–something a man will love for storing watches, cufflinks, etc. but a woman will appreciate sitting on the dresser.
3. Every house needs a cocktail shaker. So, maybe you’re not married to James Bond, but at least he can appreciate a good cocktail like 007. The first step to the perfect drink it your barware and this shaker certainly fits the bill.
4. My husband is a techy and for some odd reason has an affinity for flashlights (yup, he’s even been known to don the LLBEAN flashlight hat when he walks the dog–embarrassing, yes.) This one from the MOMA store would be a great stocking stuffer.
5. So this one is less obvious, but it’s one of my husband’s favorite things in our house–a wonderfully cozy blanket from Barefoot Dreams. I originally got this as a baby gift from my office friends, but my husband has hijacked it for watching football on the couch. It doesn’t have a huge Bears logo on it, so I’m happy having it hang around the family room.
6. Finally, give him something special and unexpected…I LOVE this print from flatmade–one in a series of limited edition silkscreens reproduced from the 1960s. Even if you’re not from Chicago, you can appreciate the design and history of these prints. They’re just perfect for a bachelor’s entry over a mid-century console or in a home office.
