One of my favorite ways to update a space is changing out light fixtures. In most cases it can be an inexpensive way to change the look of a room. I’ve been meaning to replace this entryway light fixture since we moved into our home three years ago.
For some reason even though this one bothered me the most, I chose to change every light fixture except this one. I think it’s because I’ve been waiting for the perfect one and refuse to just buy something so I can check it off my list. When you walk into my house you instantly have views of the dining room and the living room. We don’t have a hanging light fixture in our living room, but we do have one in our dining room. So I really need to choose an entry light that doesn’t conflict with the pendant light in my dining room…a little harmony in my house would be nice given how my kids are acting toward one another these days!
So, here’s what my dining room looks like…
I really want something that’s going to make a statement when you walk through the front door. Recently, I came across the perfect light fixture for my entry….I giggled with delight when I saw this fixture in a magazine because FINALLY I had found something.
But then I found out the price…. it’s $3,000! I mean, really? So unfair!
So back to square one. But don’t feel sorry for me yet, this blog post ends on a happy note! Guess who came to my rescue? Ballard Designs– I have to admit, I don’t tend to look at the Ballard Design catalog because it’s usually a bit too traditional for my taste but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found…
And it’s priced much better at only 179.00! Now I was really excited and thought this would be a perfect substitution for my first pendant love.
I was feeling pretty good at this point and then I turned the page and found one that I LOVE even more…
And the best part? It’s on sale for 119.00!
Now maybe the above light fixtures just aren’t your exact style..another one caught Tessa’s eye as she was oohing over the lighting section.
Definitely keep Ballard Designs in mind whether your decor style is contemporary or traditional. I found lots of great accessories that could go in any style of home.
I just bought SIX of those that middle fixture for my upstairs and downstairs hallways. Cannot wait to see them hung!
Would love to see them–post a picture on our fb page when they’re hung!
I LOVE Ballard. I ooh and ahh over every catalog. I’m so happy you found the perfect fixture!
Wow — I love all three light fixtures! Never would have thought to look at Ballard Designs.
