Ideas for Boys Sharing a Room

Happy first day of Spring! I would love to say the weather in Chicago is matching that…I refuse to get the new baby a snowsuit so this weather better change soon! Anyway, on to design…A few weeks ago, I did a post on shared rooms for girls and showcased the darling bedroom of a friend’s two little girls. Don’t worry boys, we’ve got you covered too!

I like the simplicity of this room and the storage under each bed.

My only change would be to do a task lamp for each child on the cube behind the beds–maybe like this one from West Elm in bright yellow to add a little color and bring out the yellow in the poufs.

I’ve said it before…I’m a little obsessed with maps…so I adore this feature wall. And, I hate to be redundant, but I’d consider two of the lamps above for the room below as well!

Here’s an example of what I mean by two industrial-style task lights used on one side table so that each child can control his own lighting. Adding to the thoughts of my post last week on alternatives to headboards, the photo below makes me think you could easily use two old doors painted a fun color behind a bed frame!

Orange and navy (well, navy and anything these days) is a favorite combination–and I MUST find where those lucite nesting tables are from!

I love stripes on bed linens and these grey duvet covers in the home of Project Nursery co-founder Melisa Fuhr are ones I’ve been eyeing for my son Conor’s room–West Elm sells a twin and it’s one sale right now! The gallery wall behind the beds is a great way to display the boys’ artwork.

This has always been one of my favorite boys’ rooms–love the use of space for storage and the little personalized stools to get up to the beds–oh, and of course that grass cloth wallpaper is perfection for a beachy look without being themey. You can see other pics from this house here.

Lots of good ideas…now if only they came with someone who would actually keep them this tidy!
