A Reader’s Shared Girls’ Room

Yesterday, I posted a few inspiration shots from designers as examples of girls sharing a room. But, we always like to see how our friends and readers live and find their spaces just as inspirational! Our friend Jessica has two little girls–3 and 5 1/2 and she always loved the idea of them sharing a room. Jessica is also one of the best discount shoppers I know so it’s always fun to see what she’ll find and pull together!

Jessica created separate spaces for each of her girls by giving each child a side of the room

She used the same beds and duvet covers, but switched up the color palette on the accessories

Each little girl has her own side table and lamp so (like I said yesterday is key!) she has her own personal storage and can control lighting for reading, naps, etc.

True to her nature, Jessica took simple IKEA bedside tables and had the tops covered with pieces of glass (durability!) from a local vendor and replaced the knobs with gorgeous ones from Anthropologie. [BTW, check out this post on hardware for a little more inspiration.]

A little reading nook creates additional separation and provides a place for the girls to play together
