My Second Love

I think I’ve found my second love next to San Francisco!  Austin is everything I had heard it would be and more.  I dashed away for a long weekend to visit a college friend who just had her first baby.

My baby days are over but I have to admit, my uterus hurt just looking at this precious, sweet girl and knowing I would never have another one again.

Austin is filled with cool antique and home decor stores so I was excited to spend my first afternoon in town shopping.  But before we could shop, we had to have a good tex-mex meal and of course, a margarita or two, but who’s counting!

The first area of town we hit up was Congress Street which is filled with so many eclectic shops and restaurants.

This store was exactly as it’s name says…uncommon objects.  It was amazing and I could have spent hours and hours looking around.  So many fun items that would add a special touch of style to any home.

And then I stumbled upon this beauty….this gorgeous gold frame and cow hide box!  Seriously….I had to literally walk out of the store before I handed over several hundreds of dollars for an 8 x10 frame.

I loved this old school medicine cabinet…would be so pretty as a china hutch or bookcase in an office.

Then we hit up this shop…

Tons of items but I LOVED these handwoven baskets…perfect for storing legos in your family room, on a dining room table or even in a kid’s room.  So colorful and they came in all sizes.

On our way home we headed to the South Lamar area and stumbled upon this awesome store…

Loved these cane wing back chairs.

These mint cups caught my eye and would be perfect for storing makeup brushes.

Adore this orange fabric.  We recently chose this fabric for a client to make pillows–looks great on these gray chairs.

And I wish I could have fit this coffee table in my suitcase!

A highlight of my trip was afternoon brunch at Salt Lick.  Take a look at this HUGE fire pit inside the restaurant.

It was such a cool venue with live music and fresh squeezed lemonade while you waited for your table.  And, the best part was BYOB!  Our drink of choice was prosecco which we sipped away while listening to the band.  Cute band, nonetheless!

Then our food came, or I should say MY food came.

Yes, this was a single order!  I will always have dreams about those cheesy potatoes!

I won’t stay away for too long, Austin!  Such a fun city –thanks to the Bruch family for the fabulous weekend!
