Eating at Eataly

While Amy’s off enjoying San Diego for Spring break, we’re hanging out in E-town for the week (Chicago by Choice 2014!) We kicked things off on Friday with a freezing Cubs opening day game (seriously, it was freezing) and yesterday decided to finally hit up the new(ish) Mario Batali concept Eataly Chicago.

The idea is a mix of restaurant and marketplace. And they’ve done a beautiful job of mixing traditional and contemporary finishes from the moment you walk in the door…

Make sure you look up and check out the chandeliers hanging in the two-story entry

You won’t be able to resist the gelato (unless you can’t get passed the nutella bar next to it)

Nor, the meat and cheese case…I had the most delicious cheese plate with a glass of prosecco (does it get any better??)

The seafood case was amazing and the guy working behind it was great. Conor loved getting to try the octopus

We ate in the pizza and pasta area. I wish you could move more easily between eating areas, but my pea and asparagus ravioli was delicious. You have to choose one restaurant and order off that menu only.

This was my favorite view in the whole place. The tiles are ridiculous and perfect paired with those ghost bar stools

Carrera marble is used for all the trim and countertops throughout the second floor

Ghost chairs/stools are also used throughout the restaurant too in different shapes and colors

Lots of eye candy here and add that to a wine bar and a cheese platter and I’m hooked.
