Green with Envy (of these rooms!)

We’re a little obsessed with the holidays around here, but to spare you from another post on Christmas mantels or planters, we thought we’d share some rooms decorated with red and green–not a holiday pic in the next two days, just pretty rooms inspired by traditional holiday colors! Today, I’m tackling green…

Green is one of those colors that I think is a little intimidating to people. Yes, they might throw a pillow on a couch that has a little green in it, but they rarely “run” with green as the primary color or primary accent color in the room. I think the inspiration shots in today’s post prove that it is a beautiful color to use and shouldn’t be seen as scary!

This living room is a perfect example of using a jewel-toned green in many different patterns, but because the colors are the same, the mixture of patterns looks great. And that lamp–love it!

Here’s a lighter look with lime green, a little mint and teal

I like the simplicity of this room, the fabric shade and the overall shade of green with the clean white, but would actually prefer to see another color introduced in order to break it up a little…feels a little too planned and sterile for my taste.

Green grasscloth wallpaper…yes, please!

Green is especially fun to use in kitchens because it has such a fresh feeling–the pearl finish on these subway tiles is so pretty and those modern chairs are fabulous.

Too much for you? What about using it as a pop of color in a valance and some accessories? So many of us have white kitchens that a shot of color livens things up and makes it your own!

A great place to go bold with green is a home office. I love how Erin Gates from blog Elements of Style painted her walls a bright green, but kept the rest of the room simple and grounded it with some chocolate brown in the rug. The contrasting chevron pillow also keeps things interesting and from seeming too matchy-matchy.

Not ready to go full green on the walls? You know Amy and I love painting the back of bookcase shelves!

So, don’t fear green!
